Turtle Cove Facilities
Turtle Cove is pleased to offer our visitors comfortable accommodations, classrooms sized to facilitate a personal learning experience, and spacious and well-equipped laboratory space. Of course, the surrounding wetlands are second to none in providing a wealth of research and educational experiences. The research station provides comfortable sleeping arrangements for up to 12 persons, with more space available on an emergency basis (sofas and chairs are futons).

The dining area seats approximately 14 persons comfortably, and the kitchen is fully equipped with stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, and a wide (if sometimes eclectic) array of utensils and cookware. You can always count on at least a couple bottles of hot sauce being handy as well, should you forget to bring your own.

Also available on the premises are a washer, dryer, and ice machine. The living quarters make up the entire second floor, while the third floor is dedicated to classroom space and the ground floor is occupied by laboratory equipment. The lab section includes a wet-lab setup complete with aquaria, natural water plumbing system, plant dryer, and various field collection equipment.

The downstairs classroom is spacious enough for an entire class to complete microscope work or sort plant collections while still allowing instructors to use the blackboard or LCD projector at the same time. Chemicals, collection jars, dissection instruments, and other laboratory equipment are available for use to classes utilizing the facilities.
