Southeastern Louisiana University Theatre
It is an exciting time for Southeastern Louisiana University's theatre program. Over the past several years, our students and our productions have been recognized among the region's finest through the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Our dedicated young performance faculty is comprised of professionals with a wide range of experience including specialization and training in stage combat, film and media performance, Viewpoints, Meisner technique, Shakespeare and other period performance styles, musical theatre, and improvisation, among others. Students learn firsthand from those who have acted or directed in such venues as The Actors Studio, 13th Street Repertory Theatre, The New School for Drama, Madison Square Garden, The Kennedy Center, Cleveland Playhouse, The Hudson Guild, Cleveland Public Theatre, etc.
All Southeastern Louisiana University theatre productions are built and/or designed by undergraduate students. Our student designers have been recognized for their work at both the state and regional level. Southeastern theatre alumni are currently working for such prestigious theatre/film/television companies as The Blue Man Group, ESPN, Martha Stewart, The New York City Fringe Festival and numerous Off-Broadway and film endeavors.
Southeastern Louisiana University's theatre program is designed to give undergraduate students hands-on experience and the preparation, training and exposure needed to pursue professional careers and/or graduate training in Acting, Design, Technical Theatre, Directing and Playwriting. Our challenging undergraduate programs within a liberal arts environment offer students knowledge and appreciation of the performing arts at a consistently recognized level of excellence.
