Regional Quality of Life Studies (RQLS) provides tangible materials to be used in connecting citizens to regional planning efforts. Surveys are used in participatory research activities. Improving the quality of life is critical to regional planning efforts. SSSRC has a substantial background in determining the nature, and causes of, attitudes twoard regional development problems. Research includes the following:

- Annual Southeastern Political Poll
- Biennial Fear of Crime Survey
- Geographical Spatial Studies
Other surveys are conducted per faculty and community needs.
