Fall Showcase 2009
10/8/09by: Natasha Whitton
FALL SHOWCASE (Sat. Nov. 7, 8:30 am to 1 pm)
We have reserved the KIVA at SLU for our Fall Showcase, where
we invite
area teachers to attend a day of workshops and roundtable
presentations on
the Teaching of Writing led by SLWP Teacher Consultants.
This is an
important opportunity for Teacher Consultants from the latest
Summer
Institute to "show their stuff" and to help out the cause of
promoting the
teaching of writing and SLWP. We are looking for
volunteers for the
following:
o mini-workshops, based on your demos, on teaching writing (50
min. long),
o panels on various subjects (such as a panel for pre-service
teachers, or
on any best practice)
o roundtables (leading discussion/writing, 20 min. each, with
small
audiences on some aspect of teaching writing)
o help in other ways such as at the registration table,
refreshments, etc.
We want as many TC's as possible to participate at the
Showcase, so we hope
you will volunteer to help in one of these ways.
Volunteers receive free
admission for a colleague, a certificate verifying their
participation in
this 4 hour professional development event (usually accepted
by parishes
for CLU's and Banking hours), as well our hearty
thanks. This is also a
chance to meet, write, and work alongside SLWP Teacher
Consultants from
other Institutes--particularly our newest members from
2009. To
participate, please email me ASAP, and I can give you
specifics on what we
need and how you could help out most.
