Math Science Upward Bound



The Southeastern Louisiana University's Upward Bound Math & Science  Center is a federally funded TRIO program designed to prepare 69 eligible high school students for successful admission into and completion of post-secondary degree programs that will lead to careers in mathematics and/or science.


This program assists students in the development of critical thinking, scientific, and analytical skills. Students will be given the opportunity to work in various laboratory environments, will be given hands-on computer experience and will be provided the opportunity to receive college credit in freshman math and science courses.

 

Applicants must be currently enrolled in the 9th or 10th grade in target schools in Livingston, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, or Washington Parishes and have at least have a 2.5 GPA and at least a 2.0 GPA  in math and science classes. Applicants must be potential first generation college students and/or must meet federal guidelines for low-income families.


The Math-Science Upward bound Program has both an academic year that now consist of academic year Saturday sessions and a six-week summer residential component. Please click on the links above to view the curriculum and activities for each component.
