Math Science Upward Bound Curriculum



 

Academic Year Program



Students are placed in Saturday classes based on their current academic schedule following TOPS Core Curriculum guidelines.

 

A typical Saturday schedule for students is a follows:

 

Freshmen

  • Algebra I 
  • English I 
  • Physical Science 
  • Literature

 

Sophomores

  • Geometry
  • English II
  • Biology 
  • Introduction to the ACT

 

Juniors 

  • Algebra II 
  • ACT Math
  • ACT English
  • Chemistry 


Seniors

  • College Math 92, 155, 161 and Pre 165
  • College English 90, 101 and Pre 102
  • ACT Math
  • ACT English
  • ACT Reading
  • ACT Science

 

Also offered

Spanish I & II

 

Lab Classes

Students who are meeting minimum GPA, GEE and ACT score requirements may take one or two of the following 2 hour laboratory classes beginning in their Sophomore year as a substitute for a core class:

  • Chemistry
  • Microbiology
  • Ecology

 

Summer Program



Students are placed in Summer classes based on their academic schedule in the upcoming school year following TOPS Core Curriculum guidelines.

Rising Sophomores 

  • Geometry
  • Foreign Language - Spanish
  • 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens
  • Scientific Research & Mentoring 

Rising Juniors 
  • Algebra II
  • Financial Literacy & Career Exploration
  • ACT Prep
  • Scientific Research & Mentoring

Rising Seniors choose from the following:
  • College Algebra 161
  • College Transition Math 092
  • College Biology 151
  • College Chemistry 121

Bridge Students:
During the transition summer between high school graduation and college entry, students entering their freshman year in college will be enrolled in up to 9 credit hours of college courses.
