Math Science Upward Bound
The Southeastern Louisiana University's Upward Bound Math & Science Center is a federally funded TRIO program designed to prepare eligible high school students for successful admission into and completion of post-secondary degree programs that will lead to careers in mathematics and/or science.
This program assists students in the development of critical thinking, scientific, and analytical skills. Students will be given the opportunity to work in various laboratory environments, will be given hands-on computer experience and will be provided the opportunity to receive college credit in freshman math and science courses.
Who should apply?

Students who are currently enrolled in 9th or 10th grade.

Students who meet either or both of the following criteria

Students whose family's taxable income is no more than 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines

Students whose parents have not graduated from a 4-year college or university (first generation college students)

- Attending one of the following schools:
- St. Helena and Washington Parish schools: Franklinton, Pine, Mt. Hermon or St. Helena Central high
- Tangipahoa Parish schools: Amite, Hammond, Independence, Kentwood, Loranger, Pontchtoula or Sumner high.
- At least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and at least a 2.0 GPA in math and science classes.
The Math-Science Upward bound Program has both an academic year component during selected Saturdays (see current calendar) and a six-week summer residential component. Please click on the links above to view the curriculum and activities for each component.
