Question 3

Standard 6 Focus Question 3

What avenues are used to communicate information to stakeholders about students, their performance, and school effectiveness?

Boys

    • Southeastern Louisiana University Laboratory School, we believe that communication with our stakeholders is critical to the success and progress of our school.  We do this by using as many forms of communication as possible.

  • We purchased and implemented an All Call System which allows teachers, administrators, and organizations to create message to be automatically distributed based on telephone numbers and email addresses.  Communication is also disseminated through personal contact.  For example, we hold parent/teacher conferences regularly, and this year we held a Back to School Bash.  At this event, new families were welcomed, new forms and information was given to parents, and everyone was able to meet all teachers and staff.  Traditional methods of communication are also used to communicate with our stakeholders.  We use email, weekly/interim/9 weeks grade reports, and Open House to discuss grading expectations and progress.

  • Our overall school progress and information is shared by distributing our school performance report card, by publicizing accomplishments in various publications, by participating in interviews on local television, and by maintaining an up to date school web page.  Parents and students may also gain important information from individual teacher web pages, from our school system adopted online service where all lesson plans and grades are available for review, and from a constant running Power Point presentation mounted outside of the school’s main office.
