Question 4

Standard 4 Focus Question 4

How are teachers trained to understand and use data in the classroom?

  • Teachers attend In-Services throughout the school year as well as during the summer on how to disaggregate student data (see professional development artifacts).  Teachers received training on how to read LEAP and iLEAP scores, how to read the state’s interpretative guide, their grade level assessment guide, My Skills Tutor data, Louisiana Pass Data, DIBBLES scores as well as IOWA scores.  Teachers have been trained on how to take the data and match it with the state’s GLE’s to ensure they are teaching the material that the student’s will be tested on.  Lastly, they receive training on how to create effective lesson plans that will not only allow them to teach via the comprehensive curriculum, but will also allow them to identify, target, and provide individual instruction for those students who test scores show they need additional assistance.
