How are data used to understand and improve overall school effectiveness?


Report Card

  • We use a variety of methods to improve our overall effectiveness.  LEAP and iLEAP scores are compared longitudinal to develop a trend analysis for our academic programs (See artifacts).  The data allows us to visualize the area(s) in our program that need additional attention.  For example, as you look through the artifacts for this standard, you will notice our science and social studies scores are not has high as our math and reading scores.  We account this to the fact that we have had considerable amount of professional development in math and reading, but very little in science and social studies.  Therefore, throughout the 07-08 school year, we will provide teachers with professional development in the areas of science and social studies. 

 

  • We have also implemented technology throughout the curriculum to improve overall school effectiveness.  The school has a web page which lists all activities (academic, classrooms, and sports) in which parents are able to view at any time to find out the happenings at school. Each teacher has a webpage in which she updates weekly to inform parents of homework assignments.  Teachers used OnCourse to ensure they are teaching the Comprehensive Curriculum.  Teachers input grades into the parish’s electronic grade book which allows parents to view their child’s grades daily.  Each teacher (grades 1-8) has a laptop, smart board, electronic chalkboard, and clickers to use in the classroom.
