Standard 3 Focus Question 4

How does the school provide every student access to comprehensive information, instructional technology, and media services?

 Computer Lab

  • The Learning Resource Center is available to students throughout the day and after school. The LRC houses a massive materials collection including both print and non-print resources.  Our collection houses over 18,000 books and/or journals.  Many on-line resources are made available both from the LRC, the computer lab, classrooms and from home. The school subscribes to Brain Pop, Brain Pop Jr. and Enchanted Learning.  These resources are available to students.

  • Each classroom has television, internet access, Smart boards, and projectors. Teachers have electronic chalkboards, clickers, Digital cameras.  We also have a state of the art computer lab as well as a smart cart.

  • The local area network provides storage space for all students and teachers on line. The parish has many additional resources available on-line which we use daily (www.tangischools.org, click on resources). Teachers and students in grades 6 – 8 have flash drives so they can store information and use both at school and at home. Every class visits the computer lab at least twice a week. The school employs a computer lab tech (with a master’s degree in computer science) who teaches and reinforces technology skills.  Eighth graders use the university library SIMS.
