What processes are implemented to ensure that teachers are well-prepared and effectively implementing the curriculum?
- Teachers are well-prepared to effectively implement the curriculum through a
variety of processes. On site in-services are provide (i.e. Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum, State Assessment Guide, integrating GLE’s, on-line lesson plans, and classroom web pages), the university allots $500 available to each teacher for professional development, and the TPSS offers a wealth of continuous professional development opportunities. Teachers are required to be at school an additional 15 minutes before and after school. This time is utilized both for preparation and parent meetings. Each teacher has a university student worker who assists the teacher. Teachers have release time daily to prepare for lessons.
- The processes used to ensure that teachers are effectively implementing the curriculum include annual evaluation, monitoring of lesson plans and
administrator walk through and formal observations. Student achievement data are
analyzed at the school level.
