Standard 2 Focus Question 3
In what ways are stakeholders, including staff, given opportunities to provide leadership and to contribute to the decision-making process?

- Stakeholders and parents play a tremendous role at SLU Lab. Faculty members serve on school committees, attend and lead faculty meetings, attend and lead professional development activities that occur both during and after school. Faculty are also placed on committees that establish school-wide policies.
- Our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is extremely active as stated in Standard 1. They meet regularly with the administration as well as with teachers to voice their opinion on school related issues as well as to voice their opinion on the direction they would like to see the school take. This year the 3rd grade parents decided to raise money for field trips, busses, and other events that may come up for the students. They did this based on ensuring all students had the opportunity to attend school related events.
- Stakeholders are also asked to serve on various committees, such as search committees, fund raisers, SACS, and booster club. Stakeholders are asked to join committees in order to voice their opinions about the happenings in the school. We also invite stakeholders so that we can solicit their advice on school related activities. University faculty assists with technology issues; the Mayor reads to our students, the university president reads to our kids, as well as the Dean. We also hold special events for stakeholders (i.e. we have a Veterans Day appreciation assembly, Grandparents Bingo, music concerts, art shows, and Back-to-School Bashes to name a few).
