Standard 2 Focus Question 1
What is the process for establishing, communicating, and implementing policies and procedures for the effective operation of the school?
- On the first day of school students receive the Student/Parent Handbook (The handbook is also linked to the school web page www.selu.edu/labschool). Each teacher reviews the handbook with their students. Students take their handbook home and along with their parents sign stating that they have read and agree to the policies listed in the handbook. These police and procedures are in compliance with parish mandates. Handbook revisions are made annually based upon stakeholder recommendations.
- Classroom policies and procedures are also revised annually. Teachers send home their class rules, maintain web pages, and attend PTO meetings. The school also has focus groups based on the needs of updating and rewriting school policies.
- Leadership maintains a school web site which provides up-to-date information regarding school policies and procedures.
