Standard 1 Focus Question 2
What is the school's process for developing a profile and systematically maintaining and using information that describes the school, its students, and their performance?
- SLU Lab School developed and continuously maintains a profile of the school using several methods. The state provides an annual school report card which gives us the school’s performance score based on results from standardized test scores, student attendance rate and dropout data. We use this data to see how well academically we are reading our goals and vision. Once we receive our LEAP and iLEAP scores from the state, we immediately analyze the data and complete a trend analysis. This procedure allows us to not only view student weaknesses, but also allows teachers the opportunity to focus on areas in which the class as a whole had a difficult time mastering so they can adjust their lesson plans for the current year. It also allows us to see areas in which teachers may need to attend professional development.
- At the classroom level, teachers maintain a class record of student attendance and performance. Test scores are reviewed and evaluated as to student strengths and weaknesses in order to modify/adjust teaching strategies. These profiles are also used to recommend students to special services like talented art, talented music, the parish gifted program, as well as resource classes.
