Lab School Faculty and Staff
Alyssa Hebert is the Lab School librarian. She loves the library and is loves teaching 4th grade social studies because these are the children who were in her first kindergarten class at our school. This is the beginning of her 20th year of teaching and her 5th at Lab. Her B.A. and teaching certificate were both earned at Pacific Lutheran University, and her Masters degree was earned at City University. Although she will have your children for only a short time during this life trip, she wants to be a partner with you and make a trip that lasts a lifetime.

Bethany Dowdy is our kindergarten teacher. She has a degree in elementary education from Millsaps college and is beginning her fifteenth year in the classroom. She has taught in Hungary and in the Mississippi public school system. She loves the energy and love for life that little children display every day, and she loves being part of the Lab School family. Bethany encourages a diverse curriculum that incorporates the whole child and believes that, if a child comes home dirty, it was a successful day! Joanne Showalter is the first grade teacher at Southeastern Lab School. She received her B.S. and Masters degrees from Florida State University and her reading specialist degree from the University of Georgia. She is also a certified kindergarten teacher. Joanne has been teaching for thirty-two years, the last twenty of which have been spent here. She says that teaching here is never boring because of the many varied experiences we have and the fact that we are always "stretching to do new things." She loves the kids, specifically watching them learn to read and write in her classroom.

Angela Bezue is the Lab School's second grade teacher. She is beginning her 11th year of teaching in this parish and her second full year here at the Lab School. She is the 2nd grade homeroom teacher and teaches math to our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders. She received her B.A. from Southeastern Louisiana University, and she is certified to teach elementary grades 1 through 8. She earned her Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision and is a graduate of the Tangipahoa Parish School System's Leadership Academy. Her goals are to provide an environment conducive to learning, increase student achievement through the use of data analysis, and provide children with the tools needed to become successful and productive citizens. Angela Davis is the Lab School's third grade teacher. She is starting her tenth year of teaching in Tangipahoa Parish and her first year at the Lab School. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Southeastern Louisiana University and is certified to teach Pre-K- 8. She earned her Master's Degree from Southeastern in Educational Leadership and has her School Leadership License. Angela teaches our 2nd and 3rd graders. She is the 3rd grade homeroom teacher and teaches them reading, spelling, science, and social studies. She teaches the 2nd graders reading, spelling, and English. Angela is very excited about the opportunity to be here and looks forward to being a part of the foundation of building the whole child. She believes that as an educator it is her responsibility to challenge her students academically, nurture them emotionally, and to help guide them. Cheri Jeanfreau will start her seventeenth year teaching this year and has been a part of the Lab School faculty as our fourth grade teacher for eight years. Her B.A. and Masters degrees are from Southeastern. She is a certified special education teacher and has a minor in visual arts. Cheri loves the family atmosphere of the school and the children whom she describes as "funny, kind, smart, and polite." Donna Arnone is our sixth grade homeroom teacher. She is the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade math teacher. Although this is her sixth year at the Lab School, she has taught for 17 years. She received her B.A. from Southeastern and her Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Southern Mississippi. Her plus 30 is also from Southeastern. She is also certified in special education for grades one through twelveand is highly qualified to teach math and social studies. Mrs. Arnone is excited to be part of the Lab School family!

Noelle Bordelon is the eighth grade homeroom teacher, 6th grade ELA teacher, and 7th and 8th grade language arts and reading teacher at Southeastern Lab School. She received her B.S. from Northeast Louisiana University and her +30 hours and Masters degree in Special Education from Southeastern Louisiana University. She has also recently received her Educational Diagnostician Certification. Her additional certifications include nursery school, kindergarten, and grades one through eight. Her special education certifications include: non-categorical preschool, kindergarten, and grades one through twelve. This is her 15th year teaching. After staying home with her children for six years, she began teaching here seven years ago. She believes that all children can learn and thrives on helping each individual student determine the way he or she learns best.

Jennifer Simon, our seventh grade teacher, is teaching science to fourth through eighth graders. This is the start of her13th year teaching. She has taught at Lumberton High School in Mississippi and at Hammond High School. Both her B.S. and Masters Degrees are from the University of Southern Mississippi. She loves it here at the Lab School and is starting her third year with us. Denise Tullier-Holly, the Lab School's art teacher, has been teaching for nineteen years. She has been associated with our school for the last thirteen years. She received her B.A. from the University of Maryland and her Masters degree from Southeastern. She enjoys teaching at the Lab School because she feels blessed to be able to observe students' development as unique individuals from kindergarten to eighth grade. The art program invites them to express themselves in a visual manner. Their handmade objects are the gems of their art processes.

Lloyd Bosch, the school's band director, has been teaching for 40 years. He has been at the Lab School for the past 5 years. His Bachelor's and Master's degrees are from SLU, and his +30 hours in music education were earned at L.S.U. and S.L.U. The band program is open to students in 4th through 8th grades. Donna Edwards is our school's new music teacher. She is starting her 7th year of teaching and her first year here at the Lab School. She received her B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi, and is certified to teach elementary grades 1 through 6. Her goals are to teach all students how to read, appreciate, and understand music, but more importantly to have a love of music. She loves having fun with the students and watching them grow in their understanding and love of music.

Shawn Messina is the fifth grade homeroom teacher and teaches 6th grade reading and 5th-8th grade social studies at the Lab School. She has been teaching for twenty-two years. Amy Graves is our new physical education teacher. She earned her degree in education from Southeastern, and she has been at the Lab School for the past nine years as a parent volunteer and substitute teacher. She is so excited to be working with the amazing children and staff here, and she loves motivating all of the students to have fun while being active and making healthy lifestyle choices. Beth Sandoval worked for Tangipahoa Parish School System for many years as a school cafeteria manager and fell in love with the Lab School family when she came to work with us last year. She eagerly decided to become a permanent part of our school, where she wears many hats including receptionist and Head Sprout coordinator. She is always on the go! Carrie Davis has worked in Tangipahoa Parish's school system for many years now as a paraprofessional who assists young students.
