Lab School Faculty Members
Alyssa Hebert teaches kindergarten at the Lab School. This is the beginning of her 17th year teaching and her third at the Lab School. Her B.A. and teaching certificate were earned at Pacific Lutheran University. She received her Masters from City University.

Joanne Showalter is the first grade teacher at Southeastern Lab School. She received her B.S. and Masters degrees from Florida State University and her reading specialist degree from the University of Georgia. She is also a certified kindergarten teacher. Joanne has been teaching for thirty-two years, the last twenty of which have been spent here. She says that teaching here is never boring because of the many varied experiences we have and the fact that we are always "stretching to do new things." She loves the kids, specifically watching them learn to read and write in her classroom.

Angela Bezue is the Lab School's second grade teacher. She is beginning her 10th year of teaching in this parish and her first full year here at the Lab School. This year, she will be teaching ELA to 2nd grade and science and social studies to both 2nd and 3rd grades.
She received her B.A. from Southeastern Louisiana University, and she is certified to teach elementary grades 1 through 8. She earned her Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision and is a graduate of the Tangipahoa Parish School System's Leadership Academy. Her goals are to provide an environment conducive to learning, increase student achievement through the use of data analysis, and provide children with the tools needed to become succcessful and productive citizens. Theresa Tageant is the Lab School's third grade teacher. She earned her B.A., M.Ed., and Plus 30 degrees at Southeastern and is certified in elementary grades and to work with children with learning disabilities. She is our school's SBLC chairperson and says she enjoys working with such wonderful people.

Cheri Jeanfreau will start her fifteenth year teaching this year and has been a part of the Lab School faculty as our fourth grade teacher for six years. Her B.A. and Masters degrees are from Southeastern. She is a certified special education teacher and has a minor in visual arts. Cheri loves the family atmosphere of the school and the children whom she describes as "funny, kind, smart, and polite." Johnnie Whisenhunt, our fifth grade teacher, has been teaching for thirty-one years. She has been at the Lab School for more than sixteen years, and loves teaching the students and watching them learn as she works side-by-side with her friends. This year, she is teaching social studies to students ing grades 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. This IS her favorite subject to teach. Both her B.A. and M.Ed. degrees are from Southeastern.

Donna Arnone, our sixth grade teacher, is new to the Lab School. She is the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade math teacher. Although this is third year at the Lab School, she has taught for 16 years. She received her B.A. from Southeastern and her Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Southern Mississippi. Her plus 30 is also from Southeastern. She is also certified in special education for grades one through twelve and is highly qualified to teach math and social studies. Mrs. Arnone is excited to become part of the Lab School family!

Noelle Bordelon is both resource teacher and 7th grade language arts teacher at Southeastern Lab School. She received her B.S. from Northeast Louisiana University and her +30 hours and Masters degree in Special Education from Southeastern Louisiana University. Her regular education certifications include nursery school, kindergarten, and grades one through eight. Her special education certifications include: non-categorical preschool, kindergarten, and grades one through twelve. She is currently completing her Plus 30 at Southeastern. This is her 14th year teaching. After staying home with her children for six years, she began teaching here three years ago. She loves teaching! She believes that all children can learn and thrives on helping each individual student determine the way he or she learns best.

Jennifer Simon, our seventh grade teacher, is teaching science to the junior high classes and social studies to the seventh graders. This is the start of her eleventh year teaching and has taught at Lumberton High School in Mississippi and at Hammond High School. Both her B.S. and Masters Degrees are from the University of Southern Mississippi. She loves it here at the Lab School and is starting her third year with us. Dr. Kayla Lamonte, our eighth grade teacher, teaches 6th and 8th grade language arts. She is certified to teach grades one through eight. She earned a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a reading specialist degree, her plus 30 degree in Administration and Supervision from Southeastern.
This is her tenth year teaching and her fifth year at the Lab School. She loves working with middle school students and says she is excited to work with such wonderful people and outstanding, motivated students! She believes she is in the absolute best place on
earth!

Denise Tullier-Holly, the Lab School's art teacher, has been teaching for nineteen years. She has been associated with our school for the last thirteen years. She received her B.A. from the University of Maryland and her Masters degree from Southeastern. She enjoys teaching at the Lab School because she feels blessed to be able to observe students' development as unique individuals from kindergarten to eighth grade. The art program invites them to express themselves in a visual manner. Their handmade objects are the gems of their art processes.

Shawn Messina is the librarian at the Lab School. She has been teaching for twenty-one years. This is her ninth year at the Lab School. Her B.A., Masters Degree, and Plus 30 are all from Southeastern. She loves the atmosphere of the school and being able watch every child as they grow and mature over the years. Ashley Hichborn, our physical education teacher, was awarded her B.S. in physical education from Husson College, where she played basketball for four years and one year of soccer. She also played semi-professional basketball for a short period of time for the Baton Rouge Heat. She is working on her M.A. in Kinesiology here at SLU. Janet Moran, our music teacher, is starting her 17th year of teaching. She taught at the Lab School from 1990-1994 and is now teaching children of the children she taught then. Her bachelors degree, Masters Degree in Music, and her +30 degree all come from Southeastern. She is an avid SLU football fan and invites all to join her family as they tailgate at home football games. She has a private piano studio in her home. Denitral Buckles Wells has been working with students for ten years and started working at the Lab School in October of 2006. She is certified by Tangipahoa Parish School Board as a paraprofessional. She earned an Associate’s Degree from Southeastern, were she is still attenting classes to further her education. She has a passion for children and believes in empowering our future generation. Denitral enjoys the small environment at the Lab School where she can get to know the students well.

Natalie Davis has been working with students for seven years, all of which have been here at the Lab School. She is certified by Tangipahoa Parish School Board as a paraprofessional and is now working with the special education class. She loves being able to work with such exceptional children and educators.
