Lab School Staff
Dr. Fawn Ukpolo, Director
Dr. Fawn Ukpolo, the Director of Southeastern Lab School, was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. She joined the Army at the age of 18 and began her educational career. She holds an Associate Degree from the University of Hawaii and Bachelors, Masters and Educational Specialists Degrees from Austin Peay State University. Her Doctorate is from Tennessee State University. Prior to assuming her duties at the Lab School, she taught in the College of Education at LSU, California State University in Los Angeles, and at Austin Peay. Dr. Ukpolo started her teaching career as a middle school science teacher. She is married to Dr. Victor Ukpolo. They have three children and reside in New Orleans. Ms. Melanie Easley, Library Technician
Melanie Easley is our library technician. She has been working at the Lab School for six years. One reason she loves being here is that she gets to know the students well because of our small size. She also enjoys working with the University students and getting to see them first as students and later as teachers in our area.

Ms. Faye Carlton, Secretary
Ms. Faye Carlton, our school secretary, was born in Utah and lived all over the world before coming to Louisiana. She was a licensed practical nurse at North Oaks, worked in Sims Library for 18 years and, after retiring, decided to come back to work and chose the Lab School as her new home. Ms. Faye has a huge family full of children, grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, and she loves working with the children here at the Lab School because they are sweet and make everyone feel so special.
