Meg Marshall, Ph.D.
Biographical Information
Dr. Meg Marshall received her B.A in French from Syracuse University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in French Linguistics from The Pennsylvania State University. She has been a French Professor at Southeastern Louisiana University since 1983. She started the first SLU Study Abroad Program in France in 1999 and has been taking students groups ever since. Her passion for the French language was recognized by the highest honor the French Ministry of Education bestows on individuals who effectively promote French language and culture throughout the world. In 2003, she was knighted in the French Order of Academic Palms.
While teaching is the central focus of her work, Dr. Marshall has served the profession by holding officer positions in all her professional associations such as Vice President of the American Association of Teachers of French, President of the Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers’ Association and President of the Consortium of the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL) to name just a few. She is currently on the Governor’s Board for CODOFIL and is a member of the BESE Foreign Language Advisory Board. She serves as faculty advisor to the Cercle français and is on the SLU Faculty Senate. Her publications include three books and numerous articles and reviews.
