Spring 2006 Honors Recipients of President's Medals

Southeastern Louisiana President Randy Moffett, far left, and University of Louisiana Board of  Supervisors member Andre Coudrain, far right, pose with the recipients of Southeastern’s President’s Medal for Academic Excellence at the university’s spring 2006 commencement.  These students earned the highest grade-point average in the university’s six colleges.

Honors Program students make up an extraordinary percentage of the group.  Psychology major Sandra Austin (6th graduate from the left side of the photo) and psychology major Elizabeth Brown (7th graduate from the  left side of the photo) each graduated with the prestigious Honors Diploma in Liberal Studies.  With perfect 4.0 grade-point averages, they tied for the President’s Medal in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.  Also general business major Scott Ploof (first graduate from the right side of the photo) with a 4.0 grade-point average won the President’s Medal in the College of Business.  Scott received the Honors Diploma in Business.

In their final semester all three of these students completed their academic work in their majors by presenting their senior theses based on research projects of their own design.  All of them also credit the Honors Program as a main influence stimulating their academic performance at the peak of their abilities.
