Course Overview:
This course provides an in-depth study of key areas of human resource management. Course materials include six extensive print modules corresponding to the six functional areas, responsibilities, and associated knowledge defined by the HR Certification Institute:
- strategic management
- workforce planning and employment
- human resource development
- total rewards
- employee and labor relations
- risk management
The features of this course include a comprehensive and up-to-date review of key concepts and trendds based on the HR Certification Institute's body of knowledge, interaction with an experienced instructor and your peers, six printed workbooks covering topics tested on the PHR/SPHR certification exam, over 1,600 test questions, an online resource center, and an interactive case study designed for SPHR candidates.
You can earn 3.5 continuing education credits (CEUs) for completing this course. Check with you employer to see if you qualify for tuition reimbursement.

Fran Norwood, Ph.D, MBA, SPHR
"Dr. Norwood is a seasoned business professional with expertise in both large and small business organizations and in educational settings. She has managed department sizes with as many as 30 employees. Her work experience includes both international and domestic business organizations. She is a champion for values-based leadership.
She earned her MBA in 2008 from Walden University. She holds a Ph.D. from LSU. In 2005 Dr. Norwood was awarded her Senior Professional Human Resource (SPHR) certification. Since then, she initiated and collaborated with Southeastern bringing the SHRM Learning System to the Northshore. She is a full-time business and management instructor at Delgado Community College, Northshore Campus. She teaches both face-to-face and online classes. In addition, she is a partner and owner in a home pet-care business. Her responsibilities include human resources, operations, and finance. " |
