Course Overview:

 

The goal of this course is to prepare project managers and others planning to pursue a career in project management with the skills and tools necessary to successfully plan, manage, and deliver projects on time and within budget.

 

The course is based on the Project Management Institute's Body of Knowledge, and highlights the five project management process groups (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring/Controlling, and Closing) and their interaction with the nine project management Knowledge Areas (Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Human Resources, Communications, Risk, and Procurement.)

 

Areas of emphasis include: creating a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), scheduling, estimating, Earned Value Management, risk response planning, and more. This course also includes a discussion on project management certification. The format of the course will include lecture, group exercises, Q&A sessions, games (PM Jeopardy,) and short quizzes.
