Lifeguard Training
American Red Cross
Successful completion of this course leads to the American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. The cost of the course includes the certification itself.
Prerequisites:
- must be at least 15 years old
- must be able to:
- swim continuously for 300 yards using the following order: 100 yards of front crawl, 100 yards of breaststroke, and 100 yards of either front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of the two.
- starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke. Surface dive 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to surface, then swim with it using leg only to the starting point, and get out of the water without using a ladder or steps within 1 minute 40 seconds.
The above skills will be tested on the first class meeting. All class meetings must be attended to receive certification.

Cost: $260 ($150 to Southeastern upon registration, and $110 by check to American Red Cross at first class meeting)
