Supplemental Instruction Program
WELCOME TO THE
SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA UNIVERSITY
SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION PROGRAM

The Supplemental Instruction(SI) Program
Supplementary Instruction is a non-remedial, institution-wide approach to learning enrichment and retention. Developed by Deanna C.Martin,Pd.D., at the University of Missouri at Kansan City in 1973, Supplemental Instruction (SI) targets academic courses that have a high percentage (30% or greater) of D or F grades and withdrawls. Program delivery is through peer-facilitated learning sessions, and participation is voluntary and open to all students in the course. The program offers a safe learning environment through a process of collaborative learning that strengthens "how to learn" with "what to learn."
