Karissa Claybrook
Hey, my name is Karissa Claybrook, and I am from Slidell, LA. I am a sophomore majoring in Mathematics. I am a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, having made the president’s list every semester. When I’m not in class or studying, I like to hang out with my boyfriend and friends. I also like to spend a lot of time in the gym here on campus working out, playing intramural volleyball and basketball, and working at the basketball games in the spring semester. This semester will be my first experience as a Math SI and tutor, and I am looking forward to the new experience.
Karissa tutors: English, Biology, and Math
Karissa is also a Supplemental Instructor for Math 165-03
Garrett Clement
My name is Garrett Clement. I was born in Metairie, but raised in Atlanta. I recently moved back to Louisiana and currently live in Amite. I’m a senior here at Southeastern and plan on graduating in the Spring of 2010 with a chemistry degree and a minor in mathematics. After graduation, I plan on attending graduate school in a yet to be determined field (analytical maybe?). I also do bioanalytical undergraduate research for the Chemistry and Physics department. The purpose of said research is to determine toxic metal (lead and arsenic mostly) concentrations in soil and water samples surrounding the New Orleans area following Hurricane Katrina and the opening of the Bonnet Carre’ Spillway.
Garrett tutors: Chemistry, Physics, and Math
Garrett is also a Supplemental Instructor for Chemistry 122-01
Samantha Domiano
My name is Samantha Domiano. I have lived in Hammond all my life, and I am a senior at Southeastern. I will hopefully be graduating in fall 2009 with a major in accounting and a minor in French. I am a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an accounting honors association, and the French Club. I have been working as a computer lab attendant on campus for the past two years, and this is my first semester tutoring French, chemistry, and math. I am looking forward to tutoring because I believe it will be an opportunity not only to help other students, but also to reinforce my own knowledge. I believe the skills I develop from this experience will help me in both my future studies and my career.
Samantha tutors: Math, Chemistry, Accounting and French
Christopher Helluin
My name is Christopher and I am an Accounting major. I like to tutor because I like to help people, and I know what it feels like to be in a position of not knowing what’s going on and to feel like no one can really help. I am a Senior this semester and plan to graduate in the next calendar year. My strongest subject is math because I took multiple years of calculus in high school and at Southeastern. I also excel in sciences and French. I don’t have much free time this semester, but when I do have free time I like to practice martial arts and play piano or do computer gaming with friends.
Christopher tutors: Chemistry and Math
Christopher is also a Supplemental Instructor for Math 163-03
John Howell
I am John Howell, a Louisiana resident since birth with a hometown of Amite. I am currently a Junior dual majoring in Mathematics and Physics, and I plan on graduating in spring 2010. I plan on going to graduate school and, after that, working in either Physics research, teaching, or both. While working as a tutor for the Center for Student Excellence, I received the Tutor of the Year Award. I have been involved in the Southeastern Honors Club, Alpha Psi Omega, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. In addition to tutoring, I also work at the physics research lab. I am living in Hammond close to SLU and I have become engaged in Summer 2008, with plans to get married after completing our undergraduate work. I enjoy just about anything that I can, but my favorite hobbies are sketching, cycling, piano, writing, and cooking. I started working in the CSE in Summer 2007, and I've tutored in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Latin. Working in the Center has been a great experience. The great co-workers make a very easily adaptable environment to work in, and the feeling that you get from helping a fellow student with their problems has made tutoring the best job I've ever had. Working as a tutor helps to make and keep me organized, while endowing me with skills and refreshers that I will use for the rest of my life.
John tutors: Math, Chemistry, Physics, and Latin

Jessica Lemoine
I am Jessica Lemoine, originally from Chalmette, but like most people I moved to the great Northshore following Hurricane Katrina. I began my college career at the University of Louisiana-Monroe and found my way “home” to Southeastern in spring 2007. I am a junior majoring in Nursing, and I plan to graduate in spring 2011. In the future, I hope to work in a hospital setting for residency experience before applying to a Nurse Anesthetist program. Throughout my college career, I have always committed myself to striving for the honors associated with a maximum grade performance; I have been on both the President’s and Deans lists at Southeastern. I love being able to share my knowledge with others and explain things in ways that are common to peer discussions. I began working at the CSE in spring 2008 as a tutor for chemistry, math, and biology and as a chemistry SI leader. I’ve learned so much from being in the classroom setting that it has often made me want to change to an Education major. I feel like I have certainly fulfilled my purpose when I am able to see a student conquer and obstacle after just hearing or seeing the problem in a whole new light.
Jessica tutors: English, Chemistry, Math, and Biological Sciences

In my free time, I play the guitar and bass, play sports, and most of all swim. There is no better place than on a beach and in the water. Something interesting about me is that I lived in Central Mexico for two years as a missionary, and I absolutely loved it there! I am fluent in Spanish, and I’m currently learning Portuguese. I’m excited to be a part of SI and tutoring this semester and hope to meet tons of new people.

As an education student, this job provides me with so much experience that will certainly be beneficial in my future career. Each student’s learning method is unique, and I enjoy the challenge it offers me in discovering a technique that fits the student’s need. I learn so much from my clients through their struggles and obstacles. It feels so good to hear about my clients’ successes and fills me with such pride to think that maybe I made a difference, if just a little one, to someone.

Anais Rey
Hi, my name is Anaïs Rey (two dotes on the i). I am from Lyon, France and fluent in French and English. People never believe I am from France because they don't hear my accent until I get excited. You will be able to understand me. I was an exchange student in Denham Springs High School in 2005 and have returned to Louisiana every summer since then. Last summer, I stayed to attend Southeastern, and I plan to graduate in the winter of 2011 with a major in International Business.
This fall will be my first semester to tutor, and I think it will be a rewarding experience as I will be able to help my peers in their own studies. I currently tutor students in French, math, and biology. I think tutoring French will be fun, just because I will be able to share my culture with others and help them discover a little of my world. I'm excited about helping and meeting new people.

I find helping students very exciting, especially if I can help them set off a light bulb in their brains and get them excited about learning something new. I have a twin sister named Veronica. We’re absolutely nothing alike. I like sports. I love reading and collecting books like the 1926 French edition of The Novel of Tristan and Isolde I found in Paris. I studied in France, Belgium, and Germany this past summer with our French Study Abroad program and had a blast! I plan to study in either Germany or France for a year starting next fall, but I haven’t decided which one yet. I plan to obtain my Ph.D. in French and hopefully work at various studious libraries around the world. I want to spend a little time working at the Trinity College Library in Dublin, Ireland, the National Library of Ireland, and the Royal Library of Belgium at some point in my lifetime, participating in research of some sort.
