 Preparing for a Job in Accounting

  1. Obtain a bachelor's degree in accounting, or a bachelor's degree in another field with a master's degree in accounting.
  2. Take a variety of college courses in addition to accounting and business, such as economics, sciences, communication, behavioral science and quantitative methods.
  3. Develop good critical thinking, problem solving, analytical and research skills and computer skills.
  4. Become familiar with specialized certification programs.
  5. Consider co-op program or internship.
