Cultural Resource Managment Program Curriculum

The Curriculum

The CRMP curriculum has recently undergone major changes that make it possible for you to choose your own concentration out of the following:

*  Anthropology
*  History
*  Theater
*  Dance
*  Music
*  Visual Arts
*  Art History
*  Public History

Along with courses in your concentration, and a strong representation of courses in business and the arts, you'll take such specialized courses as:

*  Arts Administration
*  Historic Preservation
*  Archaeology
*  Oral History

Besides the required 120 hours of academic courses, you will experience one summer of training in an appropriate field work setting between your junior and senior years.  The summer program will consist of an eight week internship at an established cultural organization in the field of your choice.  During this time, you will work with professional administrators who provide the opportunity for working on a special project, such as organizing an exhibition or performance, or working in such departments of the organization as programming, marketing, or fund raising.

Past CRMP graduates have completed their internships at organizations such as:

*  New Orleans Museum of Art

*  Louisiana State Museum

*  New Orleans Sports Foundation

*  LSU Swine Palace Theatre

*  Hammond Regional Arts Center

*  Virlane Foundation

*  Audubon Institute
