COEHD Faculty Spotlight

Fall 2009

Paul J. Simoneaux

Instructor, Department of Teaching and Learning

Mr. Paul Simoneaux

My passion for teaching comes from my thirst for knowledge and the sense of accomplishment when the "light bulb" goes off for my students.  I feel that when a teacher wakes up and says, "Oh, I have to get up and go to WORK!" is the day that teacher needs to resign or retire.  Being an EFFECTIVE EDUCATOR is not work, it is a PASSION!  After 32 years, I still wake up and get ready for SCHOOL.

I am nominating Mr. Paul Simoneaux for this semesters' Faculty Spotlight in the Center for Educational Services and Research.  Mr. Simoneaux is one of most knowledgeable and down to earth professors I have had at Southeastern.  I had Mr. Simoneaux as a professor several semesters ago and I have him again this semester.  He is always willing to go out of his way to help his students.  His experiences in the classroom for so many years are beneficial to us as student teachers.  Mr. Simoneaux deserves to be recognized for all the hours and hard work he puts into all of us as beginning teachers. THANK YOU for ALL that you do, Mr. Simoneaux!

Spring 2009

Dr. Lori Brocato

 Brocato

I love having the opportunity to inspire, challenge, and encourage our teacher candidates to be the best that they can be.  As an experienced elementary teacher I know both the challenges and rewards that being a successful and effective teacher brings.  It is my hope that our candidates will become livelong learners and go on to inspire their future students.  I want them to learn a multitude of strategies to help all children become successful readers and writers!

Dr. Brocato taught me so much about the importance of being a caring and effective educator.  Everything that I learned in Dr. Brocato’s course will be extremely beneficial for me when I become a teacher.  She takes advantage of every teachable moment to instruct teacher candidates what they will need to know when they walk into their classroom for the first time.     I will be better prepared to help my future students with their reading, because of the strategies that I learned from Dr. Brocato.
