About CEDSAR

Center for Educational Services and Research

Why CEDSAR ?

The Center for Educational Services and Research was established to provide support for COEHD faculty in the areas of research and professional development.

The role of colleges of education in the professional lives of its graduates has expanded to include postgraduate activities and career advancement support to education professionals across their lifetimes. In addition, the university faculty, those who work with these life-long students, need support to continue their own professional development, including research and grant activities. Support and services can become fragmented or overlapping if not coordinated at the college level. CEDSAR has been recreated to oversee the varied programs and activities to meet the needs of all of these professionals: teacher candidates, practicing professionals, school leaders, and university faculty. This shift in function and structure aligns well with the College’s Conceptual Framework mission to development effective educational professionals who set the standard for excellence in their careers.

Intertwined through all areas is the need for continued research to address issues and questions of professionals and the organizations they serve. CEDSAR will be responsible for initiating as well as supporting faculty and student research.

In addition to continued university support, other avenues for obtaining resources will be explored. Suggestions include seeking external funding through federal and state agencies and from foundations. Additionally, we are considering forming a formal collaborative structure through which schools will join a network and receive specified services with other services available at a reduced cost.
