Student Organizations

Student organizations are a vital part of the Art + Design Program and constitutes
one of the best opportunities for students to integrate knowledge from the classroom
with everyday experiences of living and working in a society with people of varied
interests, ideas and values.
AIGA Southeastern Student Group
AIGA, American Institute of Graphic Arts, is the largest professional organization for design. It promotes a sense of community in design, and also serves as a means to motivate, educate, collaborate, and inspire where all things design are concerned.
AIGA hosts a portfolio each year where members are able to individually meet with employers and discuss their work.
There is a $50 yearly membership fee that gives students access to:
• AIGA sponsored events
• Free online portfolio on the AIGA website.
• Discounts on software
• Free access to job/internship listings throughout the country
Meetings are held every Thursday in East Strawberry Stadium rm 132 (the digital design lab) at 5:30 p.m. No fees are required to attend meetings, however the $50 fee is required to attend any AIGA event.

Kappa Pi is an international honorary art fraternity with the purpose of uniting artists who care about art in its role in life. This fraternity bonds conscientious artists together to form a unit which is influential in the art department as well as the community.

VAS is a student organization that serves as a volunteer advocacy group for Art + Design students, providing a forum for students to investigate and discuss contemporary art issues.
VAS funds and manages activities including (but not limited to): Student Shows, Field Trips, Figure Drawing classes, Visiting Artist Lectures, Drawing Marathons, Group Critiques, and Art Night.
Weekly meetings are held in the Clark Hall Annex Photography Lab and all students are encouraged to participate in both the management of the organization and the activities it runs.
