Sarah Wiseman

Sarah Wiseman received a BFA from Central Michigan University in 2002 and an MFA from the University of Alabama in 2007. Recently, she was an artist in residence at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts where she was an active artist, teacher, and community member. Sarah has exhibited her work nationally at galleries and museums such as the Finer Things Gallery, Nashville, TN; City Art Gallery, Columbia, SC; Sabatini Gallery, Topeka, KS; and at Ann Arbor Art Center, MI.

Currently, her work focuses on how one creates visual thoughts. She is examining the intersection that occurs between the objects and spaces we have encountered. Sarah is interested in capturing the spaces in-between a moment that feels real and a moment when those emotions have dissipated. Through the medium of painting and drawing, she is attempting to create an archetypal image out of objects that resonate with her such as internal structure of a building and a net form. These objects are a trigger to contemplate our relationship to people, places, and things. The transformation of the intangible thought into a concrete material such as a thread line or mark made on the surface is the result of this investigation.
