Bethany Souza received a B.A. in Studio Art from the University of South Florida
in 2000 and an MFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago in 2007. While at
Columbia, she was awarded the Graduate Opportunity Award, the Albert P. Weisman Award
and the Stuart and Iris Baum Project Completion Grant.
Bethany's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, having recently been included in exhibitions at the Houston Center for Photography, the Naomi Silva Gallery in Atlanta and the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado.Her work was also included in the recently published Artist's Showcase Volume One, published by the Center for Fine Art Photography, and Fraction Magazine's September 2009 issue exploring contemporary landscape photography.
Her work focuses on issues of place in the contemporary world, in particular how images and memory help to inform our ideas about and understanding of the contemporary tourist landscape.
Prior to joining the faculty at Southeastern, Bethany taught photography at both Columbia College Chicago and the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL.
