The Art + Design Program at Southeastern Louisiana University provides a comprehensive
curriculum that integrates artistic study within a liberal arts education. At the
heart of the program are goals of creative, intellectual, and technical development
achieved through the integration of practices of thinking and art making.
Art + Design offers a well-rounded course of study that provides students with the
skills necessary to pursue a professional career in the arts, including creative problem
solving, visual literacy and communication, and critical thinking. Southeastern graduates
from the Art + Design Program have pursued successful careers as exhibiting artists,
museum and gallery professionals, and graphic designers. For students who wish to
pursue a graduate education in the visual arts or in art history, an art degree at
Southeastern provides a solid foundation for advanced degrees. Most importantly, with
the skills and knowledge obtained in the Art + Design program, the Southeastern graduate
can successfully compete for employment opportunities in their chosen profession.
