Reconnect Volunteer's Assist in Urban Agriculture Project
The club’s volunteer day at "The School at Blair Grocery," which is an urban agriculture school and garden in the lower 9th Ward of New Orleans. The school’s purpose is to create "A RESOURCE RICH SAFE SPACE FOR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT."

Cari Cooper, Jason Granger & neighborhood youth,
Gerald, build compost.

Dr. Burley's son, Max, protects his lunch.

Lunch with Cory, a Blair School administrator, and Davian.

A hard earned lunch.

Cary Briscoe, Jason Granger, and Cari Cooper build a
plant bed for winter garlic.

The wood must be cut for a raised plant bed. Watch
those fingers!

The school gets 8-12 eggs per day from their chickens.

Cory, a school administrator, tends to some greens.

Cory, Jason, and Cari work on the garlic bed.

Cari, Jason, & Gerald add a layer of wood chips to the
food waste just added to the compost.

The Layer of wood chips help to decompose the food & keep pests away.
