Dana Brewer-Plazinic has a B.A. in Dance Performing Arts from Southeastern Louisiana University and an M.F.A. from Mills College in Oakland, California. She has performed her work in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and New York. She is the artistic director of Izzy Moving Dance Theatre and is also a certified Pilates instructor. Mrs. Brewer-Plazinic has studied with BeBe Miller, Liz Lerman and the Dance Exchange, Woody McGriff, Beth Hoge, Carol Parker of Pilobolus, Wade Madsen, Skip Costa, and Janice Garrett. She has received scholarships to attend workshops at Bates Dance Festival, American Dance Festival, and San Diego Dance Festival. She has won the President's Award for Excellence in Artistic Activity and the Regional Arts Award for Excellence in Dance. She is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers and was nominated for a Big Easy Award for Best Choreography. Mrs. Brewer-Plazinic has also choreographed for the musicals "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" and "Side By Side By Sondheim" and the play "Dancing At Lughnasa" for which she won the award for Best Choreography by the American College Theatre Festival. Her work was selected by the American College Dance Festival Association to be presented nationally at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and she is listed in the Louisiana Artist Roster. She is interested in performing in non-traditional spaces and eliminating the boundaries of dance. She also collaborates with other artist to create new work and her most recent collaboration can be seen at tbfstudio.com. Mrs. Brewer-Plazinic choreographed a work in resopnse to the sculpture of international visual artist Tova Beck-Freidman.
