Orchestra at Southeastern
Dr. Yakov Voldman, Director of Orchestras
The Southeastern Louisiana University Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1993 by Dr. Yakov Voldman. The orchestra performs annually in Southeastern’s Fanfare Festival, which draws performers and audiences from throughout the world. Recently, the orchestra has presented world-famous soloists and chamber ensembles such as Illya Kaller, Yuri Zhislin, the Moscow Piano Trio, and Nora Romanoff-Schwarzberg and Georgy Valchev. Department of Fine and Performing Arts faculty are also featured as soloists, allowing students to hear their mentors in a professional performance environment.
Performing repertoire of all styles and time periods, the orchestra performs an average
of five concerts per year. It offers pre-professional training to aspiring university
musicians, and provides a unique educational opportunity to advanced students of Southeastern’s
