Something for every interest
The Department of Fine and Performing Arts offers a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance and a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Music Education.
The Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Music Education program augments the traditional music curriculum with coursework in instrumental and vocal methods and educational studies to prepare for Louisiana State Certification for teaching. Bachelor of Music program is designed to prepare students for careers in performing, which may also lead to the fields of pedagogy, composition, musical theatre and conducting, among others. Both degree programs serve as excellent preparation for graduate studies.
In addition, the department offers a minor in music, and students may choose a music concentration as part of the General Studies program.
