Mathematics Tutoring Lab

MATHEMATICS TUTORING LAB



The Department of Mathematics operates a tutoring lab for all students enrolled in these mathematics classes: 92, 155, 155A, 161, 162, 163, 165, 167, 168, 200, 241, and 267.

In the fall and spring semesters, students may drop in between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday for tutoring by qualified undergraduate students and Mathematics Department Faculty. 

During the summer semester, tutoring is available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.  The lab is closed on Friday during the summer semester.

Students enrolled in MATH 92 classes offered on Southeastern's campus through River Parishes Community College may also seek assistance in the Mathematics Tutoring Lab.

Consider these Tutoring Lab Statistics:

   1. Over 900 students visited the math tutoring lab 

       in the spring 2004 semester

   2. 80% of the students that came to the math

       tutoring lab passed their math course

   3. 444 students are repeat visitors

   4. 25 math faculty members volunteered one hour  

       per week in the lab during the spring 2004

       semester

 

Tutor Lab Instructions and Rules:

     1. All students must sign in at front desk upon

       entering the lab 

     2. Raise your hand when help is needed

     3. Be sure to sign out when leaving the lab.

     4. No food or drinks are allowed in the lab.

     5.Cell phones must be turned off

Math Tutoring Videos:

      Videos are available that correspond to lessons in  

      Math 161, 162, 167, 168, and 241.

 

 

Tutor Lab Services:

  • All tutors have had extensive math courses and training
  • Three tutors on duty per hour during fall and spring semesters
  • Two tutors on duty per hour during summer semester
  • Faculty volunteers
  • Computers for students to take Math Quizzes on Blackboard
  • Administers and supervises the Math 167 Skills test
  • Math tutoring videos
  • 2 TV/VCR units available for viewing math videos
  • Eight computers that have various math programs and tutorials for student use
  • Lab is available for students to come in and work on math homework
