Instructor

The Kinesiology and Health Studies Department at Southeastern Louisiana University invites applications for an Instructor position available January 2012. Applicants must have a master's degree in Kinesiology, and desired qualifications include work experience in the Kinesiology/fitness field, teaching experience at the university level, and professional certification (e.g., ACSM, CSCS). Applicants must be committed to working with diversity. Primary instructional responsibilities focus on courses in the undergraduate Kinesiology degree and may include exercise testing and prescription, strength and conditioning, sport and exercise psychology, biomechanics, anatomic kinesiology, fitness-based activity courses. Other duties include advising undergraduate students, providing service to the department, university, and community; and engaging in professional and scholarly activities.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Southeastern Louisiana University, a progressive regional, comprehensive university, enrolls over 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
The University's home, Hammond, is at the cross roads of Interstates 55 and 12 in the heart of Louisiana's thriving Northshore, the fastest growing region of the state. The Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies is one of three academic units in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The department serves 900 undergraduate majors pursuing degree programs in Athletic Training, Health and Physical Education Teacher Education, Health Education and Promotion, Kinesiology, and Sport Management; and 50 graduate students seeking the master's degree in Health and Kinesiology.
