XXVII ANNUAL FOREIGN LANGUAGE FESTIVAL

The Foreign Language Festival is held each year during the spring semester. High School students compete for prizes and local recognition. Judges are chosen from various language experts including the foreign language faculty from SLU.

AWARDS:
1st and 2nd place winners will receive prizes
3rd place winners will be recognized
All students in the competition receive certificates of participation.
A grand prize will be given for both the French and Spanish Extemporaneous Speaking categories.
- La Communauté française de Belgique will offer the WALLONIE-BRUXELLES
INTERNATIONAL scholarship to a senior level student from the festival who has taken 3 years of French in High School and who is participating in the French Extemporaneous speaking-4 category. Candidates for this scholarship must write a one page motivation essay in French on "Pourquoi je sollicite un séjour linguistique en Communauté française de Belgique" and be interviewed in French by the Permanent Representative of the French community of Belgium and by a member of the Faculty/president of CODOFIL Consortium.
The selected student will receive a certificate for the scholarship. He/she will have to file an application and return it to CODOFIL no later than April 10, 2009.
The scholarship covers the tuition, lodging,medical insurance and 17 Euros/day to cover cost of meals. The cost of international travel is paid by the student.
- The Department of Foreign Languages will offer a voucher with a maximum value of one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars toward a Mexican Cruise for two from New Orleans for a senior student who is the winner in the category of “Spanish Extemporaneous Speaking 4.”
