On behalf of the faculty and staff, I am pleased to welcome you to the Department of Educational Leadership and Technology. I am delighted that you have an interest in the Department and the programs we offer. Educational Leadership and Technology is a graduate level department that consists of three distinct program areas: Educational Foundations, Educational Leadership and Educational Technology.

The Department of Educational Leadership and Technology offers Master's degrees in Educational Leadership and Educational Technology, a Doctor of Educational Leadership,and various certification programs. The faculty endeavor to prepare well-educated and competent practitioners who are capable of improving the quality of education for Louisiana's children. The Department is characterized by its emphasis on leadership for valuing diversity and achieving equity, technology innovation and application, research and evaluation as basis for decision making and school improvement, and reflective collaboration as a means for increasing productivity.

 

The department faculty are committed to personal and academic excellence through high-quality programs within an atmosphere of innovation and excellence. The faculty have high expectations for candidates and have designed programs to support their development as professionals. The faculty remain committed to quality teaching. Candidates benefit from the experience and knowledge of a respected faculty of teacher-scholars who serve not only as teachers but mentors to the next generation of educators. The faculty engage in research that is critical to the success of students and schools. We are committed to assisting struggling schools and the educators who work with struggling students. We provide quality educational experiences that equip graduates to respond to the opportunities and challenges of educational organizations. Candidates are prepared to address educational issues and are knowledgable about the communities and clients they serve.

 

We create leadership opportunities, promote research, and provide academic excellence in:

 

  • Instructional technology applications for business, government, and education organizations;
  • Leadership of educational institutions for educational improvement; and
  • Research and evaluation methods derived from the behavioral sciences, taught through a creative balance of theoretical understandings coupled with practical applications, and appropriate for graduate candidates.
