Our Mission and Vision
The mission of the Family and Consumer Sciences program is to empower individuals, strengthen families, and enable communities. Our vision is that the FCS program will provide a dynamic curriculum that provides the employment preparation and personal development required for today’s career opportunities and family culture.
Degrees
Bachelor of Science in FCS degree offers 3 dynamic concentration areas that help fulfill our mission and strengthen employment opportunities for students based on their professional interests. The concentrations areas include:
Bachelor of Science in FCS Education offers a separate degree leading to Louisiana certification to teach in Family and Consumer Sciences programs, grade 7 - 12.
Student Organization
We encourage all of our majors to be involved in the Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. SAFCS is the student led affiliate of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (www.aafcs.org).
The Family and Consumer Sciences program at Southeastern is nationally accredited through the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Council for Accreditation. The mission of the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences is to provide leadership and support for professionals whose work assists individuals, families, and communities in making informed decisions about their well being, relationships and resources to achieve optimal quality of life.
