Master of Education in Counselor Education
The Department of Counseling and Human Development offers a Master of Education in Counselor Education with concentrations in:
- Community Counseling
- Community Counseling with an emphasis in Substance Abuse Counseling
- Marriage and Family Therapy
- School Counseling

The Counseling Program consists of a minimum of sixty (60) hours of study, meeting the requirements for Louisiana licensure in counseling and/or marriage and family therapy. The second year of study emphasizes a clinical internship, consisting of 2-3 semesters of intensive work as a counseling intern at an approved community internship site. If interested in the Counseling Program, please complete the Counseling Program Interest Form.
The Counseling Program is accredited by the Council for Accredidation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Program faculty are nationally/internationally recognized as leaders in the counseling field.
