A research proposal of Dr. Hye-Young Kim (Chemistry and Physics) has been approved for the User Nanoscience Research Program at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS) at Oak Ridge National Lab, which is sponsored by the Scientific User Facilities Division, Office of Basic Energy Sciences, U.S. Department of Energy. The title of the project is “First principle theoretical calculation of van der Waals dispersion interaction between nanocolloids: the effect of finite-size and retardation”. Kim will use the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) facilities to conduct large scale calculations for the duration of March 1, 2009-February 28, 2010.
