Research Interests: Dr. Kim offers research projects for student collaboration in computational physics. A research project entitled "Nanocolloidal Forces for Stability or Assembly" is being supported by the Department of Energy Basic Energy Sciences (grant No. DOE-FG02-07ER46414) during the three-year period from Aug/2007 to Aug/2010. Another closely related project entitled “First principle theoretical calculation of van der Waals dispersion interaction between nanocolloids” is being conducted at the Center of Nanophase Materials Sciences (project No. CNMS2007-075), which is sponsored at Oak Ridge National Lab by the Division of Scientific User Facilities, the Department of Energy. Other projects involve computer simulations of Liquid or Gas Adsorption on Structured Surfaces (such as porous materials or nanotubes) using Grand Canonical Monte Carlo simulations and Molecular Dynamics simulation methods.
