Southeastern Louisiana University Microbiology Testing Laboratory (SLUMTL) is a non-profit laboratory created to serve the Southeastern community, while actively pursuing scientific research in applied environmental microbiology.
SLUMTL has worked on projects examining storm water runoff, water quality monitoring, microbial source tracking (MST), nutrient cycling, enhanced coal bed methane production using microbial consortia, fecal indicator re-growth, and assessment of new biological indicator organisms.
This laboratory is under the supervision of Dr. Gary W. Childersand has a full time staff trained in laboratory and field analysis. Prices for field analysis and collection/transport as well as for other microbial and chemical consulting are available by quote. Samples for permits may be delivered by qualified operators using our chain of custody procedure, or samples may be picked up by our trained staff. Official reports will be prepared in 14 days and reported in a letter with QA/QC values. Unofficial reports can be made available more rapidly to customers by email upon completion of the analysis.
