Accounting Advisory Board Scholarship:
The scholarship is funded by annual gifts of $100 per year from Accounting Advisory Board members. A $500 scholarship will be awarded in the Fall semester, and another $500 will be awarded in the Spring.
Applicants must be Accounting majors who have completed at least 60 hours of credit prior to receiving the scholarship; have an overall college GPA of 3.25 or higher; be a full-time student (enrolled in 12 hours or more) and be of good moral character that exemplifies the high standards of the accounting profession.
Accounting Faculty & Alumni Scholarship:
Founded by current and former Accounting faculty members and Accounting program alumni of Southeastern Louisiana University.
Applicants must be an Accounting major who must demonstrate academic excellence through minimum 3.0 GPA, ACT score or at least 20 and participation in extracurricular activities. Upon recommendation of the Accounting Department Scholarship Committee, the scholarship may be renewed provided the student maintains a 3.0 overall GPA. Award will be based on interest earned through endowed funds. Currently approximately $400 per semester.
Association of Government Accountants Scholarship:
Founded by the Baton Rouge chapter of the Association of Governmental Accountants.
Awarded in the Spring semester to a full-time Accounting major with a minimum of 2.5 or higher GPA having completed 12 hours of accounting courses.; U.S. citizen and Louisiana resident. Award is ~ $250.
Northshore Chapter, Society of Louisiana CPAs Scholarship:
Founded by the Northshore Chapter, Society of Louisiana CPAs
Awarded in the Spring semester for use toward the next fall and spring semesters. Recipient must be a full-time Accounting major, maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0, and must demonstrate financial need through a written letter of application. Preferably, the recipient would be a resident of St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa, and St. Helena parishes, but this is not a requirement. The scholarship is renewable on an annual basis until the recipient graduates or fails to meet the guidelines of the scholarship. The award is $1,000 payable in two installments of $500 each at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters (continued eligibility is checked each semester). Funding for this scholarship is handled through SoutheasternLouisiana UniversityFoundation.
The Charles and Patricia O' Drobinak Excellence in Accounting Endowed Scholarship:
Founded by Charles and Patricia O'Drobinak.
Awarded to a full-time junior or senior Accounting major with at least one semester remaining before graduation. The deserving student who displays leadership potential must have a 3.25 overall G.P.A., and be active in university extracurricular activities. Funding for this scholarship is based on earnings received from the endowment and is handled through SoutheasternLouisiana UniversityFoundation.
Julius J. Prokop Jr. Endowed Presidential-Level Scholarship:
Founded by the family of the late Julius J. Prokop, Jr., Hammond CPA
Applicant must be a full-time accounting major with a minimum GPA of 2.75 and minimum ACT score of 22. Student may keep the scholarship for up to 8 semesters provided the minimum GPA of 2.75 is maintained. Award is estimated to be $1000 per semester.
Wegmann Dazet & Company Accounting Scholarship:
Founded by the Wegmann Dazet & Co. Professional Corporation of CPAs
Applicants should meet the following criteria: accounting major, junior or senior standing (preferably a junior or first semester senior) minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in Accounting and overall. Preference to students that have an interest in pursuing a career in the public-accounting profession, that participate in extracurricular activities and that demonstrate financial need. Award is $500 and goes to a different student each semester.
Sarah Dosher Waters Endowed Scholarship:

Awarded to a full-time junior or senior Accounting major with a 2.5 overall GPA Award is ~ $250 per Fall and Spring semester tuition invoices until graduation. Funding for this scholarship is based on earnings received from the endowment and is handled through the SoutheasternLouisiana UniversityFoundation.
The American Society of Women Accountants (New Orleans Chapter)
Criteria pending. Both local and national awards are available for those who qualify.
COPAS of New Orleans Award:
Founded by COPAS (Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies) of New Orleans
Applicant must: Be a U.S. citizen and domiciled in Louisiana; be an Accounting major; have completed at least 12 hours of accounting courses at a New Orleans area college, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all accounting courses and a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in all courses taken. Applicant must not be in his/her final semester before graduation and must be active in at least one extracurricular campus organization. Only two nominees will be sent from each area college and the Department Head is to make the selection of the nominees from that university. The deadline for receiving applications is mid-March. Awards will be made by July 31. Two awards of $500 each will be sent directly to the two final award recipients .
The Addie Lela Thompson Smith Memorial Scholarship:
Founded by Dr. James E. and Mrs. Nora P. Smith in memory of his mother.
Awarded annually through the year 2011 to a graduating senior from Kentwood High School who intends to major in Accounting at SLU. Recipient must be full-time, continue to major in Accounting, and maintain a 2.5 GPA Award is $2,000 each year up to four years applied to the fall and spring semester tuition invoices. Recipient will be selected each year by a committee consisting of the Kentwood High School Principal, the Head of the Department of Accounting, and one other SLU official. Funding for this scholarship is handled through SoutheasternLouisiana UniversityFoundation.
Christopher " Kit" Smith Society of Louisiana CPAs Education Foundation Scholarship
Founded in 1996 by the family of the late Christopher E. "Kit" Smith, Sr., CPA (graduate of SLU).

Applicant should be: Louisiana domiciled and at least a fifth semester full-time Accounting major by the fall of the academic year in which the application is filed. Graduate or fifth year students working towards the 150 hour requirement may also apply. He/She must receive sponsorship by two accounting faculty members; have a 2.5 or better GPA in both accounting and overall; enrolled in an accounting course at the time the scholarship is awarded and be a full time student; and write an essay (limit two double spaced typed pages) on the applicant's perception of the CPA's role on the job and in the community. It must also include the applicant's plans to contribute in both the professional and civic arenas. Application and supporting documents must be received by early January. Scholarships will be awarded in the Spring to offset funding for the next semester at a Louisiana university.
