Below you will find a list of scholarships offered by the departments in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences with criteria for each one
DEPARTMENTAL LEVEL:
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AND DISORDERS:
Charles W. Campbell Memorial Scholarship in Communication Sciences and Disorders
($100/Spring Semester)
- Awarded to the most outstanding junior in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
- 3.0 or better GPA
- Good relationship with his peer group and with the University
- Awarded in the Spring Semester

- Provide financial assistance for a graduate student in the Department of Communiciation Sciences and Disorders
- Must have a 3.0 GPA
- Must be classified as full-time
- Must be of good moral character

Fritz "Tootsie" Darouse Endowed Scholarship
($212.50/Semester)
- Financial need is to be considered the number one criteria for this scholarship
- Must be a undergraduate major in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Must be full-time student (Undergraduate - 12 hours/Graduate - 9 Hours)
- Must be of good moral character
- May keep this scholarship for 8 semesters provided he/she meets all of the above criteria and maintains a 2.5 GPA

Robert E. LaRue Endowed Scholarship in Communication Sciences and Disorders
($234/Semester)
- Financial need is to be considered the number one criteria for this scholarship
- The student must have an overall college GPA of 2.5 or higher
- The student may be a female or male student majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders
- The student must be of good moral character
- The student must be a full-time student
- The student may keep this scholarship for 8 semesters provided he/she meets all the criteria and maintains a 2.5 overall GPA

Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship
($1,250/Fall and Spring Semesters and $500/Summer Semester)
- Financial need
- Graduate student preferred
- Undergraduate student must have a 2.5 GPA/Graduate student must have a 3.0 GPA
- Must be completing their clinical assignments at the campus facility
- Must be of good moral character
- May keep this scholarship for a maximum of 3 semesters, provided he or she meets all of the above criteria

SGA Endowed Scholarship in Nursing and Health Sciences
(212.50/Semester)
- Must have a 3.0 or higher Southeastern GPA
- Must be majoring in one of the disciplines in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences
- Must have completed 45 hous of coursework at Southeastern
- Must have Junior standing
- Must have a record of active participation in registered Southeastern student organizations
- Must provide evidence of involvement in community service
- Must be a full-time student
- Student may keep scholarship for 2 semesters
DEPARTMENT OF KINESIOLOGY AND HEALTH STUDIES:
Arthur and Ester deVries Scholarship in Kinesiology and Health Studies
($569.50/Semester)
- Available to an undergradaute or graduate student
- Undergraduate must be at least a junior and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Graduate student must be full-time and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA
- Must demonstrate interest and experience in studying the special needs of the aging and the aged
- Must provide current transcript
- Must submit 2 letters of recommendation
- Must submit a brief written narrative
- Must re-apply each semester
Walter L. Russell Scholarship in Kinesiology and Health Studies
($383/Semester)
- Must be a full-time student
- Must have junior or senior standing
- Must be majoring in Kinesiology or Health Studies
- Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and a major GPA of 3.00 or higher
- Must submit 3 letters of recommendation
- Must submit a brief written essay
- Must submit a current transcript
- Must re-apply each semester

SGA Endowed Scholarship in Nursing and Health Sciences
(212.50/Semester)
- Must have a 3.0 or higher Southeastern GPA
- Must be majoring in one of the disciplines in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences
- Must have completed 45 hous of coursework at SLU
- Must have Junior standing
- Must have a record of active participation in registered Southeastern student organizations

- Must have a good attitude, appearance and attendance record to retain scholarship
- To retain scholarship, must maintain a 2.5 GPA

Emile and Frances D'Anna Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Nursing ($212.50/Semester)
- Must be a junior or senior majoring in Nursing
- Must have a 2.5 GPA
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must be of good moral character
- Preference will be given to a student from Tangipahoa Parish
- Maximum of 4 semesters if 2.5 GPA is maintained

Dora Sue Blackwell Shettles Daussat Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

- Priority will be given to a single parent with financial need
- Scholarship may be awarded annually to selected recipient

- Must have minimum college GPA of 3.0; minimum high school GPA of 3.25
- Majoring or planning to major in Nursing

- Scholarship can be retained for 8 semesters if criteria is Met and GPA is maintained

- May apply by writing a letter to the School of Nursing Scholarship Committee explaining how they meet the following criteria
- Must be a resident of West St. Tammany Parish
- Must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or above)
- Junior level or higher clinical courses
- At least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Need copy of parent's income tax return
- Can retain scholarship as long as guidelines are met

- Must be active in extracurricular activities and have demonstrated leadership through participation in campus organizations
- Minimum 3.0 GPA

- To retain scholarship, must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; yearly review by committee

Barbara and Randy Moffett Endowed Scholarship in Nursing
($212.50/Semester)
- Must have a minimum of 30 hours pre-requisite coursework at Southeastern
- Must be accepted into clinical nursing courses
- Must earn a minimum of a C in all nursing courses to maintain the scholarship
- May be male or female majoring in Nursing
Moffett Scholarship
Joanna Dee Newman Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Nursing
($500/Semester)
- Must have an overall college GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must be a junior or senior, majoring in Nursing
- Must be of good moral character
- Preference given to a student who is a single parent
- Must have financial need
- Can retain scholarship for 4 semesters if all criteria are met and 3.0 GPA is maintained

Bernice Ross Penland Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

- Minimum 3.0 high school GPA, minimum 2.75 college GPA
- Must be a Nursing major or a beginning freshman planning to major in Nursing
- Must be of good moral character
- Must be enrolled full-time
Can retain scholarship for semesters if criteria are met and 2.75 GPA is maintained

Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students

- Must have applied for financial aid as a dependent student and have a strong financial need
- Must be enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program in Nursing and come from a disadvantaged background
- The amount of the award is dependent on availablity of funds and number of qualified recipients

- Once scholarship is awarded, the student must make a "C" or better in Nursing courses to maintain the scholarship
- Provide evidence of leadership skills
- Priority will be given to students from Walthall County, MS
