Honors Convocation

The General Studies Honors Convocation allows the Division of General Studies to honor and recognize the achievements of its students as they make the transition from Southeastern to individual careers.  In the past two years, we have recognized some wonderfully talented people who are ready for commencement and to commence solving the problems of the world.

     Honor’s Convocation brings together students, faculty and staff, in celebration of the spirit, achievements and legacy of excellence that make the General Studies degree unique. The Office of the Dean of General Studies coordinates annual awards programs to honor our outstanding individuals. The outstanding graduates in the Bachelor of General Studies and the Associate of General Studies Programs who began in General Studies early in their careers and followed through with their original plans receive plaques at the ceremony. Those with the highest grade point averages in either degree program  receive the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence.  An award for Excellence in Service is also recognized. 

     In addition to the awards specific to the Division, members of Phi Kappa Phi and Thirteen Club are recognized at this convocation. Finally, the academic achievements of all of our honor students (President’s List, Dean’s List and Honor’s List) are noted. Since Honors Convocation is held only in the spring, students from the previous summer and fall are invited to attend.  The students' family and guests are invited to attend.
