Council for Teacher Education Membership 2007-2008
Teacher education is considered to be an institution-wide function by Southeastern Louisiana University. The Dean of the College of Education and Human Development appoints a Council for Teacher Education, which is broadly representative of all departments offering degree/certification programs. The membership annually elects a Chairperson.
The Council for Teacher Education formulates policies for teacher education, consistent with state law and subject to the approval of the President and the University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors. These policies deal with philosophy, objectives, organization and administration, curricula, and student personnel services. The policies are administered by the Dean of the College of Education and Human Development.
Curriculum changes approved by the Council must be approved by the University Curriculum Council.
Minutes of the Council for Teacher Education were first put on-line in March 1998. Minutes prior to February 1998 are stored in hard copy form in the Office of Student Teaching under the supervision of Dr. Rebecca Day, Chairperson.
