Non Degree K-12 Programs

Non-Masters K-12 ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION programs

The K-12 alternative certification programs have been redesigned during the 04-05 academic school year and have been approved by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.  These new Non-Masters Programs will be implemented starting with the Fall 05 semester.   The new redesigned programs require a bachelors degree with a 2.5 cumulative GPA on all undergraduate work attempted.  In addition, students must have passing scores on Praxis I and the Praxis II exam in the subject matter certification area being sought  for admission to the program.  There are two major changes in the K-12 certifications being offered as follows.

  1. Foreign Languages is now a K-12 program.  Students may choose between Spanish or French certification.

  2. Please note that starting July 1, 2005,  a new Praxis II exam in ART is now required for certification in Art Education, and students must have passed this exam along with Praxis I to be admitted to the Non-Masters K-12 Pragram in Art Education.
